My daughters Emily 12, and Jessica 7, have been with Shihan Dai for the last 18 months. The girls have earned their rank of orange belt, and are confident in their knowledge of that rank. They enjoy both kata and sparring, as well as being part of the demonstration team and competing at tournaments. Shihan teaches respect, discipline and acceptance of all that enter his dojo. He also teaches the history associated with the art and technique of Japanese Kempo. We have met a great group of children and adults over our time with Midnightsun Martial Arts Academy, and look forward to continuing our studies with Shihan.

I had the opportunity to meet Shihan Dia Scott about five years ago when he was teaching a class. I enjoyed his teachings, his patience and his students. I did for a brief time come to his classes at his own dojo, however, could not keep them up due to personal matters. Shihan Dia Scott has always held my respect as he never lets my limitations stand in my way, such as body structure and always finds a way for me to success and he has in many ways been able to give me the confidence to step out into the world and do what I have to do. He has given me the strength and courage to reach out and grab the new. I hope to some day be able to go back to classes as they were most enjoyable and gave me new hope and confidence in myself. Shihan Dai has taught me how to defend myself with confidence along with teaching me an art form that has roots that are 2500 years old. I learn all the facets of Japanese Kempo, from stand up sparring techiques to Ju-Jitsu wrestling and instruction in philosphy and midlevel Japanese history. I am also taught meditation and relaxation techniques that help me in everyday life.
